Meet Bruce

At first glance, Bruce is all serious business. With his enormous frame, handsome Mastín face and thoughtful expression, you might think he's the wise old guardian of the shelter. Then he bounds over with a wagging tail, a goofy grin and all the enthusiasm of an oversized puppy... and you realise that's exactly what he is!

Bruce is a young Spanish Mastín with a heart every bit as big as his paws. He's incredibly friendly, loves people, and gets on wonderfully with the other dogs. There's not a hint of aggression in him - just a gentle giant who wants to make friends wherever he goes. Walk time is definitely one of his favourite parts of the day, and if there's a stream along the route, don't expect to stay dry! Bruce can't resist stopping for a paddle and cooling his paws before happily continuing on his adventure.

The Spanish Mastín is a remarkable breed, originally bred to guard livestock across the Spanish countryside. They're famous for their calm, loyal and protective nature, but they're also affectionate family companions who form incredibly strong bonds with the people they love. Despite their impressive size, they're often gentle souls with a wonderfully steady temperament - and Bruce is no exception. He's still got all the playful enthusiasm of youth, wrapped up in a body that hasn't quite realised how enormous it's become!
