Meet Isla - a beautiful middle-aged Belgian Shepherd with a big smile, bright eyes, and a second chance at happiness firmly in her sights.

Isla was found abandoned in Duquesa and rescued by one of our wonderful volunteers, but despite whatever life has thrown at her in the past, she has a bright spirit, is social and full of eager affection for people. She enjoys her walks and has formed a lovely friendship with her penmate, Rosco, happily strolling alongside him like they’ve known each other for years. Staff and volunteers are greeted with enthusiasm every day (and sometimes a hopeful tennis ball), although shelter life can sometimes make her a little overexuberant with anticipation.

Belgian Shepherds are known for their intelligence, loyalty, and strong bonds with their humans. They are active, devoted dogs who thrive on companionship and enjoy feeling included in everyday life. Isla is healthy and generally very well behaved, although she is still a large, strong dog who will need someone confident enough to handle her size and energy. Beneath the excitement is a sweet-natured girl who clearly enjoys affection, company, and being part of a team again.
