What about Kali?

It's a question we find ourselves asking every time we look into those wonderfully expressive eyes. With her striking colouring, permanently raised eyebrows, and ears that seem to have a language all of their own, Kali always looks as though she's about to share a secret.

This young Spanish Mastín/Shepherd cross arrived at ADANA with her friend Daniella after the pair were found wandering together in the campo. While Kali was thankfully in good health, poor Daniella was in a much sorrier state, having lost an eye and suffering from numerous sores on her underweight body. Kali's own journey has been one of growing confidence. When she first arrived, everything was new and uncertain. Today, she is blossoming into a happy, playful young dog who enjoys getting out for walks and is proving to be pretty good on the lead. She loves racing around with her penmate, investigating every interesting smell, and making sure the staff and volunteers know she is available for attention. A kind word, a gentle fuss, or a scratch behind the ears are all guaranteed ways to make Kali's day.

As a Spanish Mastín and Shepherd mix, Kali is a fairly large dog with plenty of energy and enthusiasm for life. Breeds like these thrive when given regular exercise, opportunities to learn, and people who enjoy including their dog in daily activities. The Mastín brings loyalty and devotion, while the Shepherd side contributes intelligence and eagerness to engage with the world around her.

What will Kali be like in a home of her own? We can only guess... Will she become an adventurous hiking companion? A toy smuggler? A champion sofa cuddler? We suspect all of the above... The only way to find out is to give her the chance she deserves.
