Meet Tam

A beautiful Labrador/Mastín girl who was left at the Adana gates with a story we wish she could tell us - all we know is that she was found wandering alone. How she came to be out there, and what happened before she arrived, is anyone’s guess.

With her gentle Labrador-type features, taller, leaner Mastín build and absolutely flawless white coat, Tam is quite a head-turner. She seems to have been well cared for physically, arriving with us in good condition, and emotionally she is already beginning to find her feet. Calm and good-natured, she is naturally curious about people and always pleased when someone comes to her pen to say hello. A bit of fuss, some gentle attention and a quiet walk are all very much appreciated. She’s also really enjoying time loose in our yard, where she loves greeting visitors at the gate, mixes happily with the other dogs and is even discovering that a little play with some of our younger residents can be rather good fun.

We recently took Tam down to the river and witnessed something rather lovely... She stood at the water’s edge, tentatively testing it with one paw - just one little pad touching the surface - while staring at it intently as though she had never encountered such a thing before! It made us wonder just how much she has missed out on. We have a feeling this sweet girl has some catching up to do when it comes to discovering all the fun there is to be had in the world.

Labrador/Mastín crosses can make wonderful companions, combining the affectionate, people-loving nature of the Labrador with some of the calm, thoughtful and loyal qualities of the Mastín. But both are substantial breeds, and Tam will need space, sensible exercise and a family prepared for a big dog. Mastín types in particular tend to develop slowly and can be independent thinkers, so patience, consistency and kind guidance are much more useful than trying to rush things. A good diet, regular exercise and, most importantly, plenty of companionship will help her flourish. She needs a family who will give her the time and encouragement to build her confidence, while introducing her to all the little adventures and new experiences that life has to offer.
