Hugo

Meet Hugo

Bear with us on this one. Hugo IS a medium-sized dog. He may currently be struggling to escape a rather substantial fat suit, accentuated by a truly splendid double coat, but trust us… there is a medium dog in there somewhere!

Found wandering in Estepona and arriving at Adana at around five years old, Hugo should really be entering the prime of his life. He has the appearance of a Gordon Setter/Border Collie mix and seems to have picked out some of the best bits of both - the handsome good looks, the friendly, sociable nature and, thankfully, rather less of the Border Collie’s need to organise everybody and everything. The Gordon Setter side has clearly won the vote when it comes to intensity, too: Hugo is a happy, chilled-out chap who loves people, adores attention and is always delighted to accept cuddles and fuss from absolutely anyone. We think he´ll fit easily into most home situations, so long as he´s included in daily routines and given plenty of playtime and training for his intelligent mind.

The athletic bit of his heritage is currently on a temporary sabbatical. Hugo is going to need a sensible exercise and diet plan to help him get back into shape, and perhaps a gentle reminder that both Gordon Setters and Collies were originally bred to do considerably more than potter around looking magnificent. He’s fairly compliant with a brush - something that was very much needed when he arrived, looking quite the mountain man, with dreads and all sorts of surprises lurking beneath those layers of fur.

He’s also proving to be a remarkably patient chap with his fellow residents, happily mixing with most dogs, large and small, including the youngsters who seem to regard him as a particularly convenient landing pad for their enthusiastic games of pounce, play-fight and chase. Hugo generally takes it all in his stride.

So, how about helping Hugo discover his inner athlete, hiding underneath all that extra ballast? Come and take this lovely boy for a walk and you´ll most likely meet your new best friend, with limitless cuddles to boot.
