Mecha

Mecha is the kind of dog who turns heads without even trying. This handsome Shepherd/Podenco cross has a rich red coat and striking olive-green eyes, and an athletic build that gives you no doubt as to what his favourite pasttimes are. Around staff and volunteers he’s friendly, affectionate, always happy for a bit of fuss, and very willing to accept payment in sausages. He walks nicely on the lead and loves getting out and about (especially splashing about in the stream), taking everything in with that sharp, intelligent gaze.

Like some of our rescued dogs, Mecha can sometimes respond to reactive dogs when out walking, but it seems far more rooted in anxiety and uncertainty than aggression. Give him a little time, guidance, and regular socialisation and you will see continued growth in his confidence and resulting calmness. Back at the shelter, he happily lives with his lively group of pen-mates and enjoys playing with other dogs once introductions are out of the way.

And then there’s his secret talent: Mecha is quite the athlete. If there’s a wall, a gate, or a suspiciously high ledge nearby, chances are he’s already considering whether he can clear it in one elegant bound. Watching him launch himself through the air with effortless grace, you’d swear he missed his true calling as an Olympic high jumper. Luckily for us, he’s putting all that talent into his next big goal: finding the perfect family - and with his charm, brains, and stunning good looks, he’s off to a flying start.
