Tigra

Meet Tigra

This beautiful pup was found alone in Estepona at around ten months old and arrived at Adana terrified of just about everything, unsure who to trust or what might happen next. Thankfully, with time, patience and gentle handling, she's starting to relax, enjoy some strokes and discover that a little human attention can actually feel rather nice. She's still a youngster with so much of life ahead of her, and it's lovely to see those first little signs of trust beginning to emerge.

We suspect Tigra is a Bull Terrier cross, and there's plenty of character packed into this girl. Bull Terriers are typically bright, strong, playful and full of personality, with a determined streak and a wonderfully enthusiastic approach to the things they enjoy. Tigra certainly has a playful side - she loves her walks, enjoys a good game with her toys and is particularly partial to something she can leap up and catch, chew or engage in a satisfying game of tug. There's fun to be had here, once she feels safe enough to let her guard down.

Tigra is still learning how to navigate the world around her, particularly when it comes to other dogs. She's beginning to mix with some of our residents during carefully supervised social sessions, but she can currently be unpredictable and reactive around some of her canine companions. We suspect fear and anxiety are playing a big part in this, with her defensive instincts kicking in when she feels unsure. For now, she'll need to be the only dog in her new home, with an experienced adopter who understands canine body language, can manage her interactions safely and is willing to work patiently on building her confidence. Bull Terrier types are strong, energetic dogs who benefit from consistent, positive training, appropriate exercise and plenty of mental stimulation, so Tigra needs someone prepared to invest the time and commitment she deserves.

She isn't going to be the dog who bounds into a room and instantly makes friends with everyone. She's the dog who needs you to show her that she doesn't have to be frightened any more, one small step at a time. In return, you'll have the chance to watch a young dog discover a world where walks are fun and a gentle hand can be trusted. If you have the experience, patience and understanding to help Tigra find her feet, please come and meet her. She deserves the chance to grow into the confident, happy dog she has the potential to become.
