Prada

Prada and her sister Gucci were brought into our care together after being found in a local town, and while they share a strong sibling bond, Prada is the slightly calmer of the two, though still a wonderfully sparky little chapess in her own right. She has a bright, happy nature and a confidence that shines through once she’s out and about, enjoying her walks and soaking up all the sights, sounds, and sniffs around her. Prada is friendly, and enjoys human company, showing all the signs of a dog who will blossom further in the right home with patience and routine.

Now a little about why Podencos are a great addition to your pack - whether it´s going to be just the two of you, or a more rumbunctious household...

Podencos here in Spain are often used as hunting dogs, to flush out rabbits, partridges or, occasionally, bigger wildlife. When they are no longer considered useful, sometimes even after only one season has ended, they are often just left out to fend for themselves, at best.

Regardless of this, Podencos are known for being remarkably forgiving, and some of our most affectionate and chirpy characters here started their lives this way.

These pups are incredibly adaptable to a wide range of homes, but most younger dogs will need a decent amount of exercise and mental stimulation. Hilarious and playful, agile and intelligent - many are great fun with kids, especially considering their diminutive size, and others will be perfect companions to you running types out there. Once playtime is over, Podencos have a lot of love to give, and are generally snuggly and gentle, and we have personalities here who would rather skip the first part altogether.

A fact to impress your friends: The most accepted origin of the Podenco Andaluz, found mainly here, is that it was brought by the Phoenicians to Iberia. It is quite possible they bred the original Pharaoh hounds, with the Basenjis of Africa. Who knew?!

Open castings are held daily at Adana, but please don’t expect a runway strut - Prada is more about charm than catwalks, and she’s ready to find someone who will appreciate her sweet, spirited personality as she steps into her next chapter.
