Meet Ankara

Ankara is one of four tiny Podenco puppies who were rescued after being found abandoned in a bin, at about 8 weeks old. It's a heartbreaking beginning to life, and sadly one that far too many puppies have experienced. Thankfully, Ankara is now safe, cared for, and ready to find the loving family she deserves.

While some of her siblings charge headfirst into every new adventure, Ankara tends to take a slightly more thoughtful approach. She's a sweet-natured little girl who likes to take a moment to assess a situation before joining in the fun. As her confidence grows, we're seeing more of her personality emerge every day. She enjoys playing with her siblings, exploring her surroundings, and discovering new things at her own pace. Once she's comfortable, she soon joins in the puppy antics.

Like most puppies, Ankara has a wonderful balance of curiosity and affection. After a busy day of games, adventures, and investigating the world, she's more than happy to curl up for a snuggle and enjoy some quieter time with her siblings, staff or volunteers.

Many Podencos and Podenco puppies end up in shelters throughout Spain. Traditionally bred as hunting dogs, they are often abandoned or surrendered despite being intelligent, loyal, and affectionate companions. Podenco puppies make wonderful family pets, thriving in homes where they are given patience, guidance, and plenty of love as they grow.
