Meet little Koda

Koda was spotted in a bush beside the seaside paseo one morning by someone out walking their own dog. It was immediately obvious that this little chap hadn’t wandered in there by choice - someone had clearly put him there and left him. Quite how anyone could do that to such a tiny puppy is beyond us, but thankfully he was found and brought to safety. After a good check-over, we can report that he seems to be in great shape - although we’re not entirely sure what kind of shape that is yet! We’ll call him one of our “Estepona Specials” and leave the detective work for another day. There is some suspicion of Chihuahua in the mix, so we’re not expecting Koda to grow into anything larger than medium at most.

His personality, however, is already considerably bigger than his little body. Those bright, shiny eyes follow you around the room - as does Koda himself. In fact, he has already perfected the remarkable puppy ability to materialise directly underneath your feet, so watching where you step is definitely recommended! When you talk to him, his little head cocks to one side as though he’s carefully trying to work out exactly what you’re saying. He’s an intelligent little chap, already figuring out games, investigating toys and showing us that there is plenty going on behind those gorgeous eyes.

He’s also showing a little separation anxiety, which really isn’t surprising given his age, his start in life and the fact that he has suddenly found himself without the security of his own family. He’s a puppy, after all, and there is a lot for those little brains to take in.

Yes, Koda is ridiculously cute. Yes, those eyes are going to get him out of a lot of trouble. But puppies come with a few terms and conditions... Today’s adorable little explorer will eventually discover that shoes are fascinating, table legs are apparently chewable, and absolutely everything on the floor is there specifically for his investigation. There will be accidents, interrupted sleep, selective hearing, enthusiastic testing of boundaries and the occasional “Koda... WHAT are you doing?” moment. He’ll learn, he’ll grow, he’ll get things right, get things wrong and try again, and with the right guidance, all those puppy stages will eventually turn into the fabulous adult dog hiding inside this tiny bundle of chaos.

For now, though, he is simply scrumptious. He is curious, bright, playful and already showing us what a lovely little character he is going to be. We suspect there is going to be a queue of people wanting to meet him - and we can’t blame them.
